NWLive Concerts
During 2019 we partnered with local charity NWlive to co-create a number of classical music concerts in the atrium of our Health Centre.
Music and Body
In a collaboration with refugees from Freedom from Torture's celebrated writing group, 'Write to Life', five extraordinary musicians, Ant Romero percussion, Attab Haddad oud, Sabina Rakcheyeva violin, Kate St.John oboe and Tunde Jegede kora and cello present a musical journey from the Middle East and West Africa to Europe, exploring different musical traditions from 3 continents and telling the story of the migrant journey and the impact this has on the body.
Music and Soul
A performance of Stravinsky's 'The Soldier's Tale' featuring the NW Live ensemble and a new work - 'The Way' - composed and devised by a collaborative team of ex-service men and women from the Soldier's Arts Academy and members of the NW Live ensemble.
Music and Mind
With the exceptional team of Kuljit Bhamra, Saskia Reeves and The Alkyona String Quartet, Music and Mind brings together an exciting mix of music from the European and North Indian traditions and reimagines repertoire by composers ranging from Bach, Beethoven and Bartok alongside new works by composer Kuljit. Bhamra. Reflecting on the lows and highs of human existence, the concert will also include readings exploring the way the mind responds to and creates music. Alongside a letter by Beethoven, poetry and scientific research, participants in the Music and Mind creative writing workshop will read new work specially written for the occasion.
