Naomi Woddis is a photographer living with two chronic invisible conditions, Lyme Disease and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Over the late summer of 2017 Naomi was the artist in residence at the Free Space Project, the arts & wellbeing charity based within Kentish Town Health Centre.

Her residency culminates in her powerful exhibition, The One I Love, which explores the relationship that people living with long term invisible conditions have with their pets. The exhibition consists of portraits and interviews with people about the impact that chronic conditions have on our lives.

What may seem on the surface to be a lighthearted project is actually a body of work highlighting both the physical and emotional difficulty of living with invisible illness, and how our pets can provide affection and respite in the face of sometimes relentless illness.

Invisible conditions are often misunderstood. It is Naomi’s hope that by showing the tender and loving relationships that we have with our pets it will allow greater insight in to what it’s like to live with chronic
