Join us for an artist talk about Mahlia Amatina's virtual exhibition 'Life on a Spectrum' with Jennifer Gilbert

The Free Space Project is pleased to support an online virtual exhibition by artist Mahlia Amatina. This is the third in the Free Space Project’s commissions for artists to reimagine works into our virtual exhibition space whilst access to our building (Kentish Town Health Centre) is limited due to the coronavirus.

After being diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome in 2015, Mahlia was inspired to share the unique sensory experiences of life on the autism spectrum through her art. Working around the theme of neurodiversity, Mahlia has transformed her signature style of abstract colourism into a unique, interactive, multi-sensory experience that invites viewers to engage on a level that works for them.

Mahlia has regularly been awarded Arts Council England (ACE) grants, including the ‘Developing your Creative Practise’ fund, and has been featured as one of the ‘Top 50 Influential Neurodiverse Women’ by Women Beyond the Box.

Jennifer Gilbert runs the Jennifer Lauren Gallery, the aim of the is to champion and exhibit international self-taught, disabled and overlooked artists who create works outside the mainstream art world and art history. It aims to showcase undiscovered talents and evolving artists, as well as internationally recognised artists commonly seen as outsider artists, whose authentic, raw and honest work speaks for itself.

The Free Space Project is a charity supporting arts and community initiatives within Kentish Town Health Centre. Our primary focus is supporting our registered patients and those living in the borough of Camden, with occasional public events open to everyone.
