Artist Talk: Liliana Zaharia and Jennifer Gilbert

The Free Space Project is pleased to support an online virtual exhibition by artist Liliana Zaharia. This is the second in the Free Space Project’s commissions for artists to reimagine works into our virtual exhibition space whilst access to our building (Kentish Town Health Centre) is limited due to the coronavirus.

Liliana Zaharia is a fine art photographer, interested in the everyday life, identity and belonging. She completed a BA in Fine Art Photography at London Metropolitan University in 2013 and has undertaken a career as a professional photographer before coming back to her artistic practice. She has an interdisciplinary approach in accordance with the project. The journey of investigating identity started with the project ‘Grandmother’ which explores the vulnerability of human life into their transience. It continued with her final year project, documenting life in her mother’s natal village, advancing with the series ‘Looking for home’ that enunciated her dysfunctional relationship with her mother. Her latest multidisciplinary project, ‘On a scale from 1 to 10’ explores the representation of physical pain.

Jennifer Gilbert runs the Jennifer Lauren Gallery, the aim of the is to champion and exhibit international self-taught, disabled and overlooked artists who create works outside the mainstream art world and art history. It aims to showcase undiscovered talents and evolving artists, as well as internationally recognised artists commonly seen as outsider artists, whose authentic, raw and honest work speaks for itself.

Join us and hear about the amazing works and the process of creating a virtual exhibition!

The Free Space Project is a charity supporting arts and community initiatives within Kentish Town Health Centre. Our primary focus is supporting our registered patients and those living in the borough of Camden, with occasional public events open to everyone.
