"Try not to seek an answer, sometimes the solution just comes and finds us." - Drawn Together community member
Free Space Project is delighted to announce its new exhibition ROOTS/ROUTES showcasing the works of the participants of their weekly art group, Drawn Together.
Drawn Together is a creative community for people living in Camden.
Through playful experimentation with found materials and hand-made tools, we listen, share, make and reclaim the arts as a primal form of self-expression - for all, made by all. This exhibition celebrates the therapeutic potential of art and play to reduce anxiety, depression and loneliness, and create opportunities for radical transformation and growth.
Drawn Together participants wanted to explore the concept of homecoming, and going back to their roots both collectively and as individuals. The many pathways and routes each person took to get to Drawn Together in the first place (often through many thorns, bushes and obstacles) , the multiple routes across time, space, cultures, backgrounds and ages. A threading together, through collaborative art making that shows we are all rooted in one community - art acting as the binding string. A sense that art can root us back to notions of self, and can root us to health and wellbeing as a shared living breathing structure. There was something in the healing power of trees, forests and that natural organic wildnerness that the group liked.
