Freedom to Make
Freedom to Make is our weekly textiles group, the facilitators Nessa and Maddie curate a blend of self-led sessions, alongside specific textiles skill building. Yet each session has community and collaboration at their core.
Over the past year, we have worked with Craft Forward, a community interest company, to make blankets for unhoused people of London. We have also looked at widening our stitch repertoire and tried new and interesting things. For the rest of 2024 the group is turning their hand to embroidery, alongside learning about the political history of crafting in Western societies.
The group believes that crafting is a powerful tool for both improving wellbeing, and also making a powerful social statement.
Where, when & how?
